RvB 2 - Corps up - Channel R-V-B in game

Ok, it's simmered in my mind for a long time, to recreate Red Vs Blue and try and have some fun again.

For those that don't remember Red Vs Blue was about two years ago, two corps (Red and Blue - later alliances) in a permanent state of war in empire, no rules combat, this wasn't arena or tournament PvP, just two sides permanently fighting.

Anyone could join, noob alts welcome, in our first eight weeks we had 2500 kills, way outkilling most major alliances, at our peak it was 400 v 400.

I'm going to restart it, using lessons learned from the last time to hopefully improve it. I won't go into all the changes right now as I'm going out shortly til tonight, the biggest change however would be I need real help running it, last time Tron and I were to lead a side each, Tron however (even though it really was his idea) wasn't able to get involved much and it became a lot of work. This time I'd like to get it off the ground with a decent team in control of each side, so I need volunteers, ideally 3 or 4 for each team to begin with.

Many of the people who joined last time were bears who'd never pvp'd and they really enjoyed it, they did however need a lot of encouragement to undock and get going and that's what it needs.

I'm open to suggestions and ideas, for the names too and I'd be looking to get a live war started in the next 10 days or so. Any volunteers who have an alt who can create corps to allow high levels of members would be a great help.

UPDATE

Ok, I think we've done it the right way round this time, generating enough interest and pilots to get going with a bang rather than the open up then see what happens attitude of last time.

However, with the applications outstanding and the pilots dropping roles now we have 50 people in now, we'll have 70 people in by tonight, looks like well over 100 by the weekend!

10 days was quite a wait, so after much discussion and me being outvoted we are accelerating the procress, the war will be starting this Saturday the 26th!

Also nice to see we have a much higher ratio of mains to alts than last time as well.

Red Versus Blue FAQ

So what exactly is RvB?

Two corps permanently at war in empire, free for anyone to join either side and fight. Noob alts welcome although you'll have more fun with your main.

Can my corp join?

No, one of the lessons learned from last time is that making alliances was a mistake, it made balancing the sides extremely difficult and we lost a lot of team spirit on each side.

What rules are there?

There are no combat rules, while we'd encourage people to fly frig and cruiser hulls anything is allowed. The only definate rule is that while purple is active RvB fighting ceases.

What the hell is purple?

Red and Blue combined of course, we expect to be war decced by other entities in Eve, we fight them together as purple. Also we can for variation go fight other people in 0.0 or low sec as purple for fun, it's just about fighting.

So is this arena or tournament PvP?

No, it's normal PvP in Eve, just with a ready, willing and close supply of enemies wanting to fight without the politics and bull.

Is podding allowed?

Yes, while personally I think it's slightly against the spirit of what we're doing to pod people there are no rules against it, if you can scram it, kill it if you wish.

Where will it be based?

In high sec empire, exact location TBA.

When will it begin?

The war will be live on 30th September.

When can I join?

Details will be released of the corps to join tommorrow, 9 days before the war goes live so plenty of time to prepare.

What is the criteria for joining?

All you need is the ability to apply, anyone is welcome although if one side is overloaded with pilots we may tell you to join the other side.

Does it cost anything to join?

No

What are you doing this time to correct the mistakes of last time?

Sticking to one location, not creating alliances that caused more problems than it solved, putting together a proper leadership team rather than trying to do it all alone, never using Talans safespots.

Isn't this like faction warfare?

Well kind of yes, we created RvB before faction warfare existed last time, but it is a simpler format, just permanent empire war against a close, ready and willing enemy.

Will fighting be restricted to one area?

No, while there will be an obvious area where the action will be fights can happen anywhere.

So what actually happened last time?

Loads of pew pew, we had over 2500 kills in our first 8 weeks and not just cheap crap either, loads of T2 ships and BS died, lots of faction fit stuff flying about and dying and I remember a 10 billion ISK officer fit Rattler dying.

So why did it stop?

FW was coming, I took on another project in Eve and RvB fizzled out, this time I hope to have a good leadership team in place to keep the momentum up, I want RvB to be a project anyone can join/leave at any time for some pew pew and anyone includes me.

Who are you and why are you doing this?

I like to blow stuff up, I've been in some fine PvP outfits over the last 5 years, albeit some briefly, TRI, MC and AAA were all top outfits who were great to fly with but the most fun for me was Privateers, undock, shoot, die, nothing serious, just fun. It was great fun last time and I hope it will be the same again, no it won't be as fun as Pew Pew Palooza was of course but still it was a blast. So in summary, fun.

Isn't this fake PvP?

Well, the conflict has been created but the PvP and everything that goes on is pretty much normal real, the fights are real, the losses are real, the emoragequits are real.

Hmm, so you're going to do it? Very nice! And yeah, having a proper team behind it will definitely help, I'm sure it will be a great success if you find a motivated team to commit to it. Smile

I had tons of fun in the original and I guess I'm one of those "bears" as RvB was really my crashcourse to PVP (even though I had dabbled solo for a bit in lowsec before it), fond memories!

I'd love to help and will if there's something I can do but the truth is that my playtimes are so sporadic that I cannot really take on any major role... But am very interested in this nevertheless and would love to be a part of it in some capacity if it does take off. (I actually thought that FW would make RvB obsolete but after over a year in FW I'm fairly confident that is not the case. The bloodthirsty comraderie in RvB was just unique, and having common "purple" ops occasionally really helped that)

That being said, I'm having fun with my main when I do log in and have just joined Genos so I'm not sure what my involvement could be... I have alts but none really have a good selection of general combat skills up, they all are just specialized for a task or 2 (or training for) but I guess one of 'em could do a week or 2 of basic gunnery etc. Razz

(Tho there still is the problem that if I log in on the alt for RvB shooty I will be basically AWOL from the main corp as my playtime is indeed rather limited :/ )

I'm sure I could have done more to keep RvB alive the first time round, but that's all history now. When I'm active in EVE again I'll throw you guys a war dec or two. Yarrrr!

(And, for the love of god, find one battleground and stick with it this time! Moving all that equipment every two weeks still gives me nightmares.)
