|
|
So i was killing time scanning around in a buzzard in Maila. After 30 mins of scanning i found a wormhole.
At first i tried selling the BM, but none of the 7 locals were interested so i popped in myself.
On a whim i launched a combat probe, set it to a 64au scan and to my delight it came back with a "ship" hit.
Anyone here? i gingerly asked in local. No response.
So i start scanning down this ship. After a minute or so i knew it was a battleship.
Hmm my scanning alts only got Caldari BS skills so i might need to find someone who can fly this thing if it really is abandoned.
I scan closer, "Raven!" i exclaim. I can fly those.
After a minute more i have a green warpable hit on the raven. Warp to 10k, stay cloaked. I'm still worried it might be a trap.
As i land on grid eve crashes! the last thing i can see on my screen is the ghostly form of a raven class battleship and what looks like a nebula or wormhole or cloud, but its gone before i can decide.
A few tense moments later i get my camera drone back online and my emergency warp ends back at the Raven.
I make the preparations necessary to eject my pod from the buzzard, bookmarking her current location as the tension builds.
What stories will this raven, named "SERG" have to tell.
Her ident shows she was owned by a pilot from Against All Authorities.
My pod slow boats the 10k to the abandoned raven and eventually i dock and my pod connects to the ravens Aura.
Whoa, she's in a bad way, all modules offline with extensive heat damage, Her armor and structure is badly damaged, but not completely depleted.
She must have been part of fleet of ships using remote armor reps. As a shield tanker she would have been badly out of her element
The partly repaired armor damage hints of the desperate attempts by other member of her fleet to keep her alive, streaming armor to her after the sleepers had ripped her shields away.
A full rack of tech 2 cruise launchers, 3 T2 shield hardeners, a shield boost amp, an extra large shield booster and a heavy cap booster II tell me she was setup for some fierce fighting.
She's also got 3 shield hardening rigs and a damage control making up what should have been a powerful tank.
I look at the ships cargo hold inventory and note sadly that there are no cap boost charges in her hold. Her remaining 3 low slots are filled with Ballistic computers and a co-processor to link it all together.
I check her capacitor and warp drives are online and then warp back to the worm hole i came in through. Mere minutes and several billion light years later she's docked in my hanger. I quickly eject and fly back through the wormhole to retrieve my buzzard.
Once back in the station i try to decide what i should do with her. Repair her? Try to trace the owner? Contract her? or just keep her as a museum piece.
She stands battered and bruised a testament to the bravery of her crew and the strength of will of her captain to eject and leave her in space of others to find and retrieve.

I used to have fun fishing old ships out of safespots and pondering what the owner did with them.
It was mostly ancient cruise kestrels, though, never got anything as big as a BS. Nice catch. _________________

I bet that ship would have one hell of a story to tell if it could talk. _________________ The Ballad of Vagmaneer Jones - a tale of sorrow from Astro Empires.

You should be able to leave notes in cargohold.
Could be epic. _________________

This.
When eve was in Beta, Money, Notes and Bookmarks all had physical manifestations. But only bookmarks survived and since WTZero i bet half the players don't even know you can drag bookmarks around. |

Have been thinking about this. Best I could come up with would be maybe leaving BM's in the cargohold named with the lines of text you wanted. Haven't tried it out to see how well it works though.

you can drag a Bookmark into your hold.
would make a very short note though, with the limited length of the BM name.. _________________

Also as noone else has mentioned you can just leave bookmarks in cargohold.

OK Tested. This appears to work. The description field gets preserved.
I will be doing this from now on if i'm forced to abandon a ship. |
