Tranquility - Eve client version 6.21.127381 (Dominion 1.1.1)
Issue:
When mining at an asteroid belt with 5 x mining drone II's, over time, the fps counter will drop from 60 to 30 and eventually lower within 20-30 minutes.
This issue is not new with Dominion I suppose it's always been like this since Apocrypha.
Status:
Not yet reported to ccp (will do)
Settings:
"Effects" must be enabled
Drones must be kept outside dronebay and never retracted, else fps rise back to 60 again.
Color depth: 24
Window size: 1920x1080
Depth/stencil: 32-bit z-buffer w. 8bit stencil

(!) I am using one set of installation files for both my main and my alt. Using "linking" in windows to create a new instanced install folder, which create another unique set of prefs files for my alt. So I start my main by linking to the original install folder, while my alt is starting off with a shortcut linking to the "linked" install folder.
Setup:
Win Vista x64
Intel Q6600 cpu oc'ed @ 3.4 GHz
8GB ddr2 ram
Ati Radeon 5850 card (1GB)
Ati Catalyst 9.11 driver
Superspeed ramdisk
Dual monitor setup, 1920x1200 (primary) + 1280x1024 (secondary)
(overlapping client windows, windowed mode) I use secondary window for browsing, multitasking between internet browser and two eve clients is common.
Observations:
- Mining at high-sec asteroid belt, while perma-tanking npc frigates that appear after a while.
- Retracting drones back to drone bay, makes fps rise back to 60.
- Idling drones does nothing for improving the lowered fps
- More drones = faster fps drop over time
- Two sets of drones (Hulk + Orca) creates fps drop quicker
- Apparantly not linked to being in fleet at all
- Not being linked to having modules active
- When retracting the first set of mining drones, fps rise to 30 fps
- Only when retracting the second set, fps will rise back at 60.
I know that windows task manager show increased memory usage, it seem to top at around 1.4 GB. Retracting drones make memory usage drop to 700ish MB.
Opening the "Monitor" show this image, clearly indicating lowered fps and higher cpu:

Don't hurt yourself.
I don't know what to believe really. I would expect alot of people experiencing this fps drop, but this has been going on for a long time and I have never seen it mentioned anywhere.
Thought perhaps it would be some proper attention here. Would be nice to hear about anyone else experiencing this issue, because it is an annoying one and I am not sure if it is just something limited to my computer. I'm just surprised that nobody seem to have mentioned this issue anywhere before. |
